One of the biggest arachnids on earth is the tarantula, a spider known for its hairy black bodies and brown-and-black appendages. Tarantulas may look scary, but these eight-legged creatures pose little to no threat to humans. In fact, a bee’s sting is more painful than its bite. They have sensitive hair that starts to stand up in case of danger or threat. Tarantulas are native to South America, but they can survive in arid grounds and grasslands.

Tarsier

This petite primate is endemic in Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Tarsiers are nocturnal creatures with soft dark brown fur, a long tail, and two big eyes. They also have four small limbs used for clinging on trees and jumping from one tree to another. However, tarsiers are ultra-timid creatures. Because of that, they tend to shy away from humans. Not only that, but their ultra-sensitivity can stress and cause them to bang their heads on trees to death.

Termite

People usually mistake termites for ants. Both have wings and queens that rule their colonies, but termites are pale brown insects feasting wood. These small and winged creatures are invasive to homes and infrastructure made of wood because of the protozoa on their gut. These microorganisms have enzymes that can digest wood and convert it to sugar.

Tern

Terns are medium-sized seabirds that reside near lakes and beaches. They have black-feathered heads, and their feathers may vary in color, usually in black, white, grey, or a combination of any of the three. They usually have bright yellow, red or orange beaks and legs. Terns are also migratory birds and may look similar to gulls (also a seabird), but gulls are larger and have curved beaks, while terns have straighter ones.

This animal parasite is not an insect, but it is actually a tiny arachnid and survive by feeding on blood. It doesn’t have wings. Instead, it uses its teeny-tiny legs to crawl from one victim to another for the bloodmeal. How do ticks extract blood on their hosts? Using their legs, they hook themselves onto their target’s body and search for a thin skin layer where they can start sucking their fluids.

Tiger

Tigers are some of the largest and most ferocious mammals, feeding on medium-to-large-sized mammals such as ungulates and buffalos. These big wild cats are orange-furred with vertical black stripes, although some are white-colored like the white Bengal tigers.
